The 10 highest ranked trademarks

When you recognize a trademark, you expect more from it. This isn't a locally owned service or store. Companies go after whatever they can trademark that will be remembered by the market. The Facebook team has even gone as far as almost trademarking both "face" and "book." Then there are the unique trademarks, such as Nike or Adidas. The bottom line is that trademarked products and services add overall value to what's being offered.

Without further ado, the top 10 highest ranked trademarks.

1. GE

GE is all over the place. You see the trademark in the healthcare market, on household appliances, and even aerospace technology. GE's trademark is valued at $30.5 billion with a market capitalization of $197 billion.

2. Walmart

The retail monster that is Walmart leads the way with over two million employees with around 9,000 locations. It has a market capitalization of $184 billion, with a trademark valued at $36.2 billion.

3. AT&T

AT&T is the largest telephone services provider in the United States, offering both local and long distance telephone services. AT&T has over 95 million subscribers using its service.

4. Bank of America

It's no doubt that Bank of America has had some financial issues in the last couple of years, but despite that, Bank of America is still one of the largest banks with around 6,000 bank locations in the United States, lead by 300 offices throughout the nation. Its trademark comes in at $30.6 billion.

5. IBM

IBM's trademark value comes in at $36.2 billion. It currently holds more patents out of every technology company in existence. IBM recently has been working with software manufactures to expand its market.

6. Microsoft

A leading brand in both the computer and software market. Microsoft offer  a large variety of products and services, from Xbox LIVE to Windows 8.  Its trademark is worth $42.8 billion with a market capitalization of $204 billion.

7. Vodafone

Vodafone is one of the top mobile telecommunication networks globally. It has a market of 340 million customers, spread throughout 20 countries. The trademark is worth $30.7 billion.

8. Apple

Are you a PC or Mac? Apple's trademark is valued at $29.5 billion with a huge market capitalization: $307 billion. Whether it's the iPhone or new MacBook, Apple is everywhere in the technology world.

9. Google

When you think of search engines, Google undoubtedly rings a bell in your head. Google's trademark is valued at $44.3 billion, not to mention its company market capitalization is at $164 billion.

Note: At one point, Google was worried that the word "search" would become a synonym for Google. The company did not want its trademark value to be reduced because of this.

10. Wells Fargo

Another leading bank, Wells Fargo is one of the top dogs in the banking world. Its trademark is worth $28.9 billion.

There you have it, the top ten most valuable trademarks in the current market. Ask almost any American if they recognize these trademarks, and the majority will probably remember all of them.
