How To Get Backlinks From Reputable Websites

Getting backlinks from reputable websites can be achieved organically, pro-actively and financially. The first of these methods relies on momentum of content to generate backlinks over time. Pro-actively encouraging backlinks that might otherwise not be utilized is another way to get backlinks from reputable websites. Lastly, backlinks may be negotiated via financial transactions, a method not highly recommended by Matthew Bredel of SEO Exciter. The methods below help improve the prospect of good backlinks.

• Increase page rank

By increasing page rank content becomes valued more, and in some cases indexed by Google. By having better valued content on your website, reputable websites may be more encouraged to backlink to it. In other words, a reputable website may not want to  risk lowering its page rank by backlinking to a lower ranked webpage. It may be helpful to note shortened web addresses may lead to some  'page rank decay' according to Matt Cutts of Google.

• Utilize 'Do Follow' sites

Not all forum or webpage links qualify as backlinks due to a specific 'no follow' feature that can be automatically added to forum post links. Some websites however are 'do follow' according to Squidoo. Additionally, Squidoo suggests downloading a specific search plug in that allows you distinguish between the two types of sites and consequently can reduce redundant backlinks. • Allow open access

Open access to a website is important if you are seeking a large audience or pool of potential websites for backlinks. Without access to your content, there is less to backlink to. Granted, the content may have a strong following with a limited audience, however, if increasing backlinks is yoru objective, open access is a step that can help with that goal. To achieve open access publish webpages so the entire internet has access to a complete part of the website you are seeking  backlinks to.

• Produce 'linkable' webpages

It stands to reason, if a webpage has nothing worth linking to, then it is less likely to be linked to. What is linkable and what is not is defined by the 'reputable' sites from which you are seeking backlinks in addition to your interpretation of what the sites you are seeking backlinks from choose for themselves. For example, to be linked to from a non-profit animal shelter, information about adopting pets might improve the chance of backlinks.

• Optimize content

A website that is Search Engine Optimized takes into account search engine methodologies in order to increase the probability of a website appearing for a websearch. This Google link offers web design tips to help get websites found by the Google search engine. According to the Journal of Electronic Publishing (JEP), length of time a website maintains a web address associated with particular content also increases potential affect of the website. Affect in the form of greater audience can be correlated with increased backlinks in certain instances.

• Contact webpublishers

Web developers may be interested in your content. If they decline your offer for content, backlinks are an additional possibility. In other words, the door in the face at a reputable website could lead to backlinks in compromise; this of course is no guarantee. Thus, contacting and publicizing a need for backlinks might also work. Backlinks may be sought using this method via email, formal inquiry, forum posts or relevant  directory listings.

• Create related website(s)

If you have other websites at which you are sole the creator, you can essentially put backlinks to your own content as needed. Otherwise, you may either collaborate on which backlinks to use if any, or create new websites from which to backlink. The more well indexed websites you have, the higher the possibility of backlinks from reputable and relevant websites.
